Confucius Classroom at Mount Clear College Holds Calligraphy and Painting Show

On February 15th, local time, invited by Miss Jingjing Zhang, Cultural Ambassador of Ballarat, Jijun Yang, Chinese Director of Confucius Classroom, and Yuxiang Han, a Chinese student studying at Mount Clear College, demonstrated Chinese calligraphy and painting at the Library of Ballarat.

Jijun Yang, holding a Chinese writing brush, wrote some Chinese characters and showed the citizens around him how they were formed. His description of the characters was so vivid that they could remember the meanings quickly. After that, he taught the citizens how to write with the Chinese writing brush.

Yuxiang Han then demonstrated how to paint with a Chinese writing brush. He also invited a citizen to join him painting. One hour later, a beautiful painting of a peony was completed. Invited by Jingjing Zhang, Jijun Yang wrote “Zhong Guo Jia You”(Be strong, China) on the side of the painting in order to show support for the fight against the coronavirus spreading in China. The painting will be published on the Facebook of the City Council for the promotion of the Chinese Art Workshop to be held at the Art Gallery during the Harmony Fest of Ballarat in March 2020.
