Chinese Director of Confucius Classroom at Mount Clear College Visits Stawell Secondary School

On January 5th, local time, Jijun Yang, Chinese Director of the Confucius Classroom at Mount Clear College, paid a visit to Stawell Secondary School of Victoria in order to learn about the Chinese language teaching at Stawell and seek an opportunity of establishing a Confucius classroom at Stawell Secondary School.

While arriving at the school, Jijun Yang received a warm welcome from Aron Dalziel, Vice-Principal, Ling Zhao, Leading Teacher of Chinese language, Yunyou Li, Chinese teacher, and three students from the school.


Meeting at staff room

Jijun Yang had a school tour guided by the hosts. Then they had a meeting at the staff room. Ms Zhao and Miss Li gave an introduction about the local schools' Chinese language teaching and expressed their hope of assistance of Chinese language teaching from the Confucius Classroom at Mount Clear College.

Three students from Stawell Secondary School talked about their experience of Chinese learning and expressed their hope of going to Chinese universities after graduation. Their fluent Chinese and love of Chinese culture impressed everyone deeply at the meeting.

Jijun Yang spoke highly of the Chinese language teaching of the school and expressed his hope that the teachers from both schools would exchange their ideas and experience of teaching Chinese. He also promised that the Confucius Classroom at Mount Clear College would fully support the local schools’ Chinese language teaching and cultural promotion.

Both parties also had a discussion about the possibilities of sending teachers of Chinese and regular support of traditional Chinese cultural experience events from the Confucius Classroom at Mount Clear College.
