Eighth “Sawang Boriboon Wittaya Cup” Chinese Talent Competition Completed

On November 30, the Confucius Classroom at Sawang Boriboon Wittaya School in Pattaya, Thailand held the Eighth “Sawang Boriboon Wittaya Cup” Chinese Talent Competition. In addition to six traditional events such as paper cutting, Chinese knot, calligraphy, musical instruments, dance and singing, there were also new events like English and mathematics. More than 700 teachers and students from 20 schools in the central and eastern Thailand participated in this competition.

The competitors from groups of calligraphy, Chinese knot and papercutting used their dexterous hands to make Chinese characters, Chinese knots and paper-cuts glitter. Pieces of works showed their love for Chinese culture. The champions from groups of musical instruments, singing and dance performed on stage, adding many highlights to the competition. They were in high spirits on the stage with melodious sound, beautiful singing and graceful dancing, winning the applause from the audience.

“‘Sawang Boriboon Wittaya Cup’ brings together excellent students from central and eastern Thailand to participate in the competition. It is a high-quality and high-level competition of traditional Chinese culture, which is conducive to the spread of Chinese and excellent Chinese culture in Thailand,” said Liang Bing in her speech.

Finally, Lu Hongfu from Rayong Wittayakorm School won the first prize of Chinese classical instruments with a total score of 377 points; Ye duo from north lam phu lam public PeiHua school, Xia Xuan from Sawang Boriboon Wittaya School and Meng Jia from Wutthiwitthaya School 2 won the first prize of Chinese songs in groups of kindergarten, primary school and middle school respectively; the performance team of “Red Lantern” from Rayong Guanghua School won the first prize of Chinese dance; Li Zhengyan from Lam Public PeiHua School and Dou Shixuan from Sawang Boriboon Wittaya School won the championship of calligraphy in groups of primary school and middle school respectively; Gui Lan from Wutthiwitthaya School 2 and Jing Jing from Rayong Guanghua School won the championship of paper cutting in groups of primary school and middle school respectively; Meng Fan from Sawang Boriboon Wittaya School and Bi Zhi from Lam Public PeiHua School won the championship of China knot in groups of primary school and middle school respectively.

After the event, Wang Huichang gave high affirmation to the “Sawang Boriboon Wittaya Cup” competition and Sawang Boriboon Wittaya School. He said that the players of Sawang Boriboon Wittaya School could obtain higher advantage in the competition full of experts and won three championships of Chinese songs and Chinese knot in the primary school group and calligraphy in the middle school group, while it was also at the top of the other events, which was really not easy. For eight years since the “Sawang Boriboon Wittaya Cup” was held, hundreds of students who love Chinese culture have “sparkled” on the stage, which not only provides a stage for Thai students to show their achievements in learning Chinese, but also makes Chinese culture further carry forward overseas.
