Culture and Art Troupe of Ludong University Attends 10th Anniversary of Confucius Institute at Pays de la Loire in Angers & Opening Ceremony of Its Branch in Nantes

From November 20th to 22nd, local time, the culture and art troupe of Ludong University visited France to attend the 10th anniversary of the Confucius Institute at Pays de la Loire in Angers and the opening ceremony of its branch in Nantes.

On November 21st, artists from Ludong University, Shandong Province of China performed two exquisite singing and dancing shows to local students and citizens respectively in Salle Chabrol to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Confucius Institute at Pays de la Loire in Angers. Local residents, students and overseas Chinese attended the show.

On behalf of Wang Qing, the president of Ludong University, Wang Yebing, the head of the culture and art troupe and the College of Art of Ludong University, delivered a speech. He said that the 10th anniversary of the Confucius Institute at Pays de la Loire in Angers was a remarkable milestone. To celebrate it, the culture and art troupe traveled across oceans to perform in France, so as to present shows for local people in Angers and Nantes and contribute to the promotion of cultural and people-to-people exchanges between both sides.

Victor Bernard, Foreign Director of the Confucius Institute at Pays de la Loire in Angers, said that the 10th anniversary of the Confucius Institute was due to everyone’s hard work. On this occasion, the staff of the Confucius Institute at Pays de la Loire in Angers would learn from the past and look ahead, striving to do a better work.

The performance is fantastic and has various forms, including dancing, singing and musical instruments performance. Jiang Libin, Vice Dean of the College of Art of Ludong University, was the choreographer. The opening dragon dance greatly attracted the attention of the audience.

Later, the teacher from College of Art, Wang Miao, sang two beautiful songs for the audience. “Variation Mayila” and “A Glass of Wine” built a strong ethnic atmosphere. Another teacher Wang Junfeng sang “Swan Geese” and “The Heavenly Road” with his wonderful voice. The two also sang a folk song of Northern Shanxi “Xiang Qin Qin”.

Teachers Chen Yue and Ma Huijuan performed “Horse Racing” with erhu and guzheng, whose passionate melody conquered all the audience. A song called “Spring in Southern China” makes everyone feel the beauty of the canal towns in southern China. They also sang the well-known French song “La Vie En Rose”, which is wonderful and fantastic. A student Zhang Tao played the suona “She Qing” and “Song of the Phoenix”. By making good use of the special timbre of the suona, he presented the spectacular scene of forest of birds for everyone.

Teacher Sun Ting performed Dai dance “Curved River” and the excerpt “Incense” from the dance drama Confucius. Her graceful dancing was very enjoyable. Dong Cuina, the national first-level actress and winner of the Plum Performance Award, presented Peking opera “The Number One Scholar as the Matchmaker” and “Ode to Pear Flower”. Tang Shaojun, the associate professor from the College of Sports, together with his students gave Chinese Wushu routine performance and Tai Chi Kung Fu Fan performance to show the charm of Chinese traditional culture to local residents. The audience broke into thunderous applause. Finally, the whole performance ended in a lion dance.

On November 22nd, Victor Bernard and Liu Yuanyuan, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute, invited the trope and partners to attend the cocktail party and held the opening ceremony of its branch in Nantes at Lycée Notre Dame de Rezé.

At that night, the culture and art troupe of Ludong University presented their third performance in France for citizens of Nantes. Even at the end of the show, the audience is reluctantly to say good bye to the artists.

After the performance, representatives of the College of Sports and College of Art of Ludong University presented gifts to the Confucius Institute at Pays de la Loire in Angers, hoping the Institute to move forward and be better in the future and make greater contributions to the promotion of Chinese culture and the friendship between Chinese and French people.
