Confucius Classroom at Mount Clear College Supports Federation University to Hold Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration

On September 13th,local time, Li Wang, a Chinese teacher, and Jijun Yang, Chinese Director of the Confucius Classroom, came to the Students’Centre of Federation University to support the university to hold a celebration of Mid-Autumn Festival.

The centre was full of Chinese festival atmosphere. Some Chinese knots and lanterns were hung on the wall. On a desk were Go (Weiqi), Chinese chess, Chinese tea sets, writing brushes, and works of calligraphy etc.

Chris, a student leader, gave a welcome speech to all the participants. After that, Jijun Yang gave a talk about the Mid-Autumn Festival and told a story of Chang’E flies to the Moon. Then Jijun Yang played the flute, demonstrated and taught some students Taichi, which won a lot of applause.

After that, some students practised calligraphy following Jijun Yang. Others learned to how to make lanterns following Li Wang. Some others enjoyed kicking shuttlecocks. The whole event lasted until midnight.

Chris expressed his sincere gratitude to Jijun Yang and Li Wang and hoped that the Confucius Classroom could offer the university students more support of Chinese language and cultural activities.
