Student Delegation from Jiangsu Attends Celebration of 10th Anniversary of Confucius Classroom at Mount Clear College

On July 29th 9:00am,a delegation of 85 university students from Jiangsu Province came to the Confucius Classroom at Mount Clear College. A brief welcome ceremony was hosted by Jenny Bromley, Vice-Principal of Mount Clear College and Director of the Confucius Classroom, and Jijun Yang, Chinese Director of the Confucius Classroom. They also gave an introduction about the development of the Confucius Classroom and Chinese teaching and cultural exchange activities at the local area.

Fionna Wooller and Jodie Handley, SHAAC(Student Health, Advocacy, Advisory Centre) teachers, gave a talk about the resilience program at Mount Clear College. The university students were fully engaged in the activities and asked various questions about the program.

After the talk, the delegation was divided into two groups, with one group attending a professional development activity at Earth Ed, and the other demonstrating and teaching about 250 local students Chinese calligraphy, Peking Opera facial makeup, paper cutting, folk dancing and musical instrument playing, traditional Chinese games and handicraft making at the Confucius Classroom. All the participants were so much interested in the Chinese cultural activites and had a great time at the Confucius Classroom.

Then, about 80 local people including parents of students, student host families, citizens, members of the 3rd Age University, teachers and leaders of the school turned up at the Confucius Classroom. They had a wonderful experience of making and tasting Chinese food including dumplings and fried rice together with the Chinese students and teachers of the Confucius Classroom.

When the whole day’s event came to the end, Jenny Bromley and Jijun Yang concluded by appreciating everyone’s attendance and support for the Confucius Classroom.
