Mount Clear College Holds Celebration of 10th Anniversary of Confucius Classroom

On July 30th, a celebration of 10th anniversary of the Confucius Classroom and 40th anniversary of sister relationship between Jiangsu and Victoria was held at the gym of Mount Clear College. A teachers’ delegation from Nanjing No.1 Middle School, a university students’ delegation from Jingsu and the students and teachers of Mount Clear College attended the ceremony.

The ceremony was hosted by two student leaders of Mount Clear College. Both Australian and Chinese national anthems were played. Lynita Taylor, Principal of Mount Clear College, gave a welcome speech. She spoke highly of the efforts and achievements of the Confucius Classroom and appreciated the classroom’s contribution to the Chinese teaching and cultural exchange activities conducted at Mount Clear College and the local region.

Mr. Huang Cheng, Principal of Jiangbei School of Nanjing No. 1 Middle School, gave a speech and presented a gift of silk painting to the school.

Three Chinese students then played the Hulusi(cucurbit flute) and the flute, winning a lot of applause. After that, four Australian students gave an oral presentation of the experience of their China trip and Chinese language learning.

When the ceremony came to the end, led by Jijun Yang, Chinese Director of the Confucius Classroom, all the Chinese students came to the Confucius Classroom at the Language Center where Chinese language teaching is conducted. They observed two Chinese classes taught by Jess McCulloch and Jun Wang. They were all impressed about the effective teaching and the students’ active involvement in the classroom activities.
