Europe’s First “Music Confucius Classroom” Established in Kiev, Ukraine

Europe’s first “Music Confucius Classroom” was established on June 10th at the Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music in Kiev, capital of Ukraine.

Attending the unveiling ceremony upon invitation, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Maksym Strikha, said in his speech that the establishment of the Confucius Classroom “has long-term positive significance for promoting and developing the cooperation of music education between Ukraine and China, and further promoting cultural and educational cooperation between Ukraine and China”.

Ye Xiaogang, Chairman of the Chinese Musicians Association and the professor of the Central Conservatory of Music, who led the delegation of the Central Conservatory of Music to attend the unveiling ceremony of the “Music Confucius Classroom” in Ukraine, said in his speech: “The newly established Confucius Classroom will popularize Chinese traditional and modern music art to Ukrainian students, and introduce more Ukrainian music to China.”

Maksym Tymoshenko, President of Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music, said: “We cherish having Europe’s first ‘Music Confucius Classroom’ here, and we will certainly turn it into a high-level music classroom with the help of China. Today, the Chinese student group has become the largest group of foreign students in our college, so it is particularly important for our college to strengthen strategic cooperation with China.”

Du Wei, Chinese Ambassador to Ukraine, Wang Dajun, Head of the Culture and Education Office of the Chinese Embassy in the Ukraine, and the teachers and students of Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music also attended the unveiling ceremony.
