On May 25th, 2019, representatives of the Confucius Institute at the University of Banja Luka took part in the manifestation ’Health Sphere’, held in the park ’Petar Kocic’ in Banja Luka, which gathered a great number of citizens.

On that occasion, they performed the Chinese ancient skill Tai Chi, a physical exercise regularly practiced in China and worldwide due to the benefits it has on human health.

Participation of the Confucius Institute in this project promoting physical and mental health, organized by the RS Medical Students International Committee - "SaMSIC", is a continuation of successful cooperation with this organization.

According to unofficial data, about 300 million people practice Tai Chi around the world, which speaks in favour of its significance on mental and psychological well-being of people. It is believed that Tai Chi was first practiced 4 000 years ago, and that the first sketch of this skill was drawn between the IV and II century BC. Some of the benefits of regular practicing of Tai Chi are the calming effect it has on people's minds, strengthening of immunity, raising the level of energy, improving the function of the autonomic nervous system, and increasing concentration. It also lowers the high blood pressure, improves the balance and coordination of body movements, and builds on muscle strength and endurance.
