Osh State University Celebrates Its 80th Anniversary and the Confucius Institute at Osh State University Holds Third Report-back Performance of Graduates in Osh

On May 30th, the Confucius Institute at Osh State University held the 80th anniversary celebration of Osh State University and the third report-back performance of graduates entitled “Glorious Youth and Fleeting Summer” at Babur Theater in Osh. Bozanov Zamirbek, Vice President of Osh State University, Han Mingyu, Vice Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in Osh, Suleimenov M, Foreign Director of the Confucius Institute at Kyrgyz National University, An Deyuan, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at Kyrgyz National University, Hu Dongmei, Cultural Director of the Confucius Institute at Kyrgyz National University, Zhang Shicai, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at Bishkek Humanities University, and other guests were present. Over 1,000 people, including all teachers and students of the Confucius Institute at Osh State University, parents, representatives of Chinese-funded enterprises in South Kyrgyzstan, and people from all walks of life, watched the performance.

This activity included graduation ceremony and cultural performance. Along with the exciting music, 175 graduates of the Confucius Institute at Osh State University, who worn the graduation gown, stepped onto the stage, full of spirit and energy.

In his speech, Bozonov Zamirbek fully affirmed the hard work of all teachers and students of the Confucius Institute and placed great expectations on the graduates. He said, “I hope that, after four-year Chinese language learning, you can make your own contributions to language communication and people-to-people bonds between Kyrgyzstan and China through what you have learnt. In the future, whether you pursue further studies or get a job, you can make better use of and give play to your language advantage to safeguard and practice the friendship between Kyrgyzstan and China and spread and promote the culture of Kyrgyzstan and China.”

In his speech, Han Mingyu expressed his congratulations to the graduates of the Confucius Institute at Osh State University and hoped that they could become excellent Chinese language talents in Kyrgyzstan and make contributions to the friendship and development of China and Kyrgyzstan.

Later, Bozonov Zamirbek and Han Mingyu jointly granted graduation certificates to the graduates and issued honorary credentials to excellent graduates, outstanding talented students and excellent students. They also granted “Excellent Teacher Award” to six teachers who were to leave the Confucius Institute at Osh State University and expressed affirmation and gratitude to them for their hard work.

The cultural performance started with the Chinese song “Farewell” and the Kyrgyz song “My Kyrgyzstan” presented by the Chorus of the Confucius Institute at Osh State University. Longyin Chinese Orchestra of the Confucius Institute and Faculty of Arts of Osh State University jointly performed the Chinese and Kyrgyz folk music ensemble “Blooming Flowers and the Full Moon” and “Kobuz Butterfly Love”, which perfectly integrated the Chinese and Kyrgyz national instrument. Different languages have different charm. The teachers and students of the Confucius Institute sang mandarin, Cantonese, Kyrgyz and Russian songs together, which were full of colorful melodies of youth. The performance “Blossoms on a Moonlit River in Spring” incorporated painting, recital, Chinese zither and other patterns of manifestation, reflecting the students’ deep love for Chinese culture. Children at the teaching point in Kyzyl-Kiya presented the song performance “Clap Your Hands”, interpreting children’s simple happiness. The Martial Arts Team at the Confucius Institute performed the Sanlu Long Fist and Tai Chi Quan, allowing the audience to appreciate the infinite charm of China’s martial art through the dynamic and static combination. The teachers and students of the Confucius Institute performed the Chinese and Kyrgyzfashion show, displaying the dress culture of different ethnic groups.

As a traditional performance of the Confucius Institute at Osh State University, the epic “Manas” was performed by eight teachers of the Confucius Institute in Kirghiz who worn traditional Kirghiz clothes and sang it wonderfully with a silver voice and deep feeling, winning ceaseless applause and cheers from the audience. Longyin Chinese Orchestra performed mixed traditional Chinese opera, greatly wideningthe audience’s horizon and feeding their ears. The classical dance “Large fish” was beautiful and full of lasting appeal. In the end, Li Li, a student of the Confucius Institute at Osh State University, sang the classical Chinese song “Tonight is unforgettable”, bringing down the house.

The whole performance fully showed the fruitful teaching achievements made by the Confucius Institute at Osh State University in the past six years, demonstrated the love of all teachers and students of the Confucius Institute for Chinese and Kyrgyz culture, and revealed the increasing influence of the Confucius Institute at Osh State University in South Kyrgyzstan.

Statistically, in this year, there were 175 graduates majoring in Chinese language at the Confucius Institute at Osh State University, among which 110 graduates applied for various overseas student scholarships in China and the rest were engaged in Chinese translation and interpreting, etc.
