Photo Exhibition of Chinese Story Opens in Mérida, Mexico

On February 11th, local time, the “Picture Exhibition of Chinese Story” sponsored by the Chinese Culture Center in Mexico and the Confucius Institute at Autonomous University of Yucatán (UADY), and co-organized by the City Government of Mérida, was held at the José Martí Cultural Center in downtown Mérida, the capital city of Yucatán. Maria, Deputy Director of the Cultural Promotion Bureau of Mérida, Celia Rosado Avilés, Secretary General of UADY, Andrés Aluja Schunemann, Mexican Director of the Confucius Institute at UADY, and Yu Zhantao, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at UADY attended the opening ceremony and cut the ribbon.

In her speech, Maria congratulated on the opening of the exhibition and expressed gratitude to the Chinese Embassy in Mexico, and the Chinese Cultural Center in Mexico for their support to this exhibition and their efforts to promote Chinese culture.

Celia affirmed the endeavors of the Confucius Institute at UADY in promoting cultural exchanges and Chinese language teaching between the two countries in the past twelve years.

After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, teachers and volunteers from the Confucius Institute introduced the local people to the magnificent sceneries as well as the economy, technology, culture and people’s lives of contemporary China. A grand spectacle of happy lives, harmonious society and lasting stability since the reform and opening up of China was vividly displayed by the photos on exhibition.

The photo exhibition, a part of the series of activities of the “2019 Happy Spring Festival” at the Chinese Culture Center in Mexico, lasted till February 28th at the José Martí Cultural Center in downtown Mérida.
