On January 7th local time, Melace, Director of the Faculty of Agronomy and Bioengineering of the University of Burundi; Joseph, Foreign Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Burundi; Yan Ping, Chinese Director, and the teachers of the Confucius Institute travelled to the rice base of Chinese agricultural experts group in Burundi for field investigation.

During the investigation, Yang Huade, an expert of hybrid rice planting and head of the agricultural group, introduced the planting, excellent achievements and development prospects of Chinese hybrid rice in Burundi. When talking about strengthening cooperation with the Faculty of Agronomy and Bioengineering of the University of Burundi in the future, he expressed that if the two sides have the opportunity to cooperate, it will provide ample space for the Faculty in terms of professional development. For example, the two sides can cultivate agricultural science and technology level of students, practical operation capacity and scientific research level by teaching students the technology of growing rice and the solution to practical problems in the process of planting.

When talking about the role played by the Confucius Institute, Yang Huade said that the cooperation between the two sides cannot be separated from the Confucius Institute's training of Chinese language ability of relevant students. Having certain capabilities in Chinese language is an effective way and a solid foundation for continuing communication and cooperation in the future. If the mastery and promotion of hybrid rice technology serves as a medium to make it possible for students with ideals and qualifications to take the lead to become rich, it will be a promising prospect for the cooperation among the three parties.
