On December 21st,2018, the Confucius Institute at University of Banja Luka was invited to the School of Economics to give a presentation on Business Chinese and Business etiquette. The classroom was crowded with students and professors and everyone showed great interests.

Professor Gao Yang from the Confucius Institute at University of Banja Luka talked about the importance of learning Chinese Business etiquette and explained how businessmen in China greet, how they say farewell and how the guests are seated for a dinner reception, etc.

To help students have a better knowledge of different practices in etiquette in different countries, professor Gao invited students to come forward to do role-play and asked the students to make comparison and find out the possible reasons for that. By doing this, the students had a better understanding of rules of seating guests, seeing visitors off and the taboos of using chopsticks in China.

In the second session, Professor Wu Kun listed four reasons of learning business Chinese. He also talked about his plan for teaching business Chinese including the textbook and hours for each term. To get the students know what techniques would be adopted in his lecture and find out if Chinese was really that hard to pronounce, professor Wu taught the students Pinyin, tone of voice and simple words of daily greeting. After the presentation, when the students left the classroom, they were so excited that they said "thanks" and "goodbye" in Chinese to the professors.

Confucius Institute at University of Banja Luka is planning to offer Business Chinese courses to the School of Economics next semester. With more and more cooperation projects carried out between China and Bosnia and Herzegovina in education, tourism, economy and trade, learning business Chinese brings the learners more opportunities in their studies and employment.
