Themed Anniversary Celebration----“Chinese Dinner”

On December 15th, 2018, Dr Radoslav Gajanin, Rector of University of Banja Luka, invited high officials for the first Chinese Dinner organized by the Confucius Institute at University of Banja Luka to mark the anniversary of establishing the Confucius Institute. The restaurant was decorated by the staff members of the Confucius Institute with big red Chinese knots and pandas. Chinese songs were also played as background music to get guests exposed better to Chinese culture. The Chinese dinner consisted of 6 Chinese traditional meals, Jiaozi being the most famous.

During the interview, Chinese Director Ying Cai mentioned that with the full support and help from the president, the government, the universities and all others, the Confucius Institute was operating successfully. Ms Ying Cai performed tea ceremony for the guests and Confucius Institute staff showed guests how to use chopsticks and explained Chinese eating customs and importance of sharing the food. Accepting an interview

The high officials invited by the rector: Mayor of Banja Luka Igor Radojicic and his wife, Minister of Education and Minister of Science and Technology Alen Seranic, Advisor to the President of the BiH Presidency Dr Nina Sajic, Advisor to the President of the BiH Presidency Ana Trisic Babic, Vice Rector Goran Latinovic, Dean of the Medical Faculty and member of CI Board of Advisors Dr Ranko Skrbic, Director of the Sino-RS Company Boris Gaspar. The dinner was attended by the other prominent citizens of Banja Luka and representatives of Chinese companies in Banja Luka.

The dinner was one of the events marking one year of CI at the Banja Luka University and in the Banja Luka City. The Confucius Institute is committed to provide Chinese language and cultural courses and activities to whoever has an interest in Chinese language and culture. The Confucius Institute is also serving as a platform to promote the mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries.
