Making and Presenting Cards to Show Care and Love

On November 24th, the Confucius Institute at University of Banja Luka organized a workshop for people to experience Chinese traditional culture and show their care to the sick children.

The theme of the event was Making Card for the Sick Children with Chinese Traditional Elements, paper cutting and painting, etc. At the beginning, the volunteer Chinese teacher of the Confucius Institute, Xu Yicheng gave a brief introduction. He mentioned that Chinese paper-cutting is a long-established folk traditional art which can be dated back to the sixth century. Besides paper, the materials used for paper cutting can be leaves, skins of a twig, a cloth, or others.


Making cards

After learning how to handle scissors and fold paper, the participants started to create their own masterpieces with the professor's guidance.

The participants made full use of their creativity to create a beautiful greeting cards by cutting paper, drawing lovely pandas and flowers and writing Chinese characters like Happy New Year. All the participants were so satisfied with their work and happy that their cards would be presented to the their friends.

The Confucius Institute at the university of Banja Luka hopes to show its care to everyone by offering Chinese language courses, organizing workshops for whoever has interest in learning Chinese language and culture and doing whatever it can to contribute to the humanity.
