Opening Ceremony of 2018 Pre-job Training for Chinese Directors of Confucius Institutes in Europe Held

On July 24th, the opening ceremony of 2018 pre-job training for Chinese directors of the Confucius Institutes in Europe was held in FLTRP International Convention Center of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU). Zhao Guocheng, Deputy Chief Executive of the Confucius Institute Headquarters and Deputy Director-General of Hanban, and Jia Wenjian, Vice President of BFSU, attended and addressed the opening ceremony.

Jia Wenjian introduced language disciplines, disciplinary development, talents training and international exchange of BFSU, and highlighted their achievements in the international promotion of Chinese language and the construction of Confucius Institutes in particular. He said that BFSU will endeavor to create a comfortable learning environment for all the trainees with a view to ensure a smooth training process. He also hoped that this training can further strengthen and deepen the exchanges, cooperation and mutual learning between BFSU and its partner universities in order to achieve common development.

Zhao Guocheng introduced the purposes and tasks of this training course and elaborated on the development background and significance of Confucius Institutes, the primary experience and challenges of Confucius Institutes in school-running, and the responsibilities and missions of Chinese directors. He noted that Chinese directors are crucial to the development of Confucius Institutes and expected that all trainees will fully respect their foreign counterparts, rise above difficulties, strictly follow the disciplines, and safeguard our national image with a cooperative spirit after taking their posts.

Trainees of the 2018 pre-job training

The pre-job training course is attended by 57 trainees in total, who come from 42 universities and educational institutions nationwide. This training course helps the trainees get more familiar with the related policies, laws and regulations, and operation of Confucius Institutes, develop new ways of management for Confucius Institutes, and enhance their capacities of cross-culture communication as well as organization and management by combining online learning with off-line training and integrating intense study, internship and practical training.
