Zhao Guocheng noted in his remarks that through the development over the past 14 years, Confucius Institutes have developed rapidly. The key issue concerning further improving the standard of Confucius Institutes is how to achieve high-quality development, integrate Confucius Institutes into the local community as well as provide services for local residents. The Confucius Institute Headquarters will enhance the quality of the Confucius Institutes by improving the standard system and the quality evaluation system, building a qualified team of Chinese and foreign teachers as well as full-time teachers and part-time teachers, promoting the international Chinese textbooks as well as encouraging innovative teaching methods. He hoped that the representatives attending the conference would focus on the theme and provide practical suggestions on the development of Confucius Institutes based on practical work.
