Confucius Institute at San Francisco State University held Awards Ceremony of 14th "Chinese Language Bridge Cup Competition"

On April 13, 2018, the Awards Ceremony of 14th "Chinese Language Bridge Cup Competition" was successfully held at Marina Middle School in San Francisco. More than 500 local students, parents and Chinese teachers attended the ceremony.

The competition was co-hosted by the Confucius Institute at San Francisco State University and the San Francisco Unified School District and was sponsored by the Confucius Institute Headquarters and the Education Section of the Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco. The competition was held on March 17th-18th, more than 1,100 Students signed up.

The award ceremony presented more than 200 awards including the first, second and third prizes and the honorable mention prize of brush calligraphy, pen calligraphy, painting, Chinese composition and Chinese poetry recital. Yanbo Wu, AVP for international education at SF State, Vincent Matthews, Superintendent of SFUSD, Stevon Cook, Vice-president, Commissioner of San Francisco board of education attended the ceremony.

After the ceremony, the winning students and parents were invited to the Consulate General of China in San Francisco to attend the reception. Consul General Linquan Luo of the P.R China in San Francisco and Education Counselor Jun Yang respectively addressed the ceremony and congratulated the winners.

This year is the 14th anniversary of the competition. Past competitions have been widely welcomed by Chinese language learners in the San Francisco Bay Area. It provides Bay Area students with more opportunities show their talent in Chinese Language and cultures.

The Confucius Institute at San Francisco State University, the organizer of the Chinese Language Bridge Cup, hopes to promote the understanding of Chinese language, and Chinese culture through the continuous development of Chinese language teaching.
