The book China, in the Eyes of a Foreigner, With the Heart of a Host by the author Tatjana Soldat is a collection of her newspaper articles and observations on everyday life in China, where she lived and worked for several years as editor and journalist of the Chinese Radio 'International' in the Serbian language editorial office.

Ms Tatjana Soldat

Ms Soldat gave an elaborate explanation about Chinese culture with her own experience in China. She believed that very few people of Republika Srpska knew the real and modern China, although they constantly maintain a deep interest in Chinese culture. As far as she knows, most people’s impression of China still stays in China’s 50s to 60s, and the true situation of China under new era background is kept outside of their horizon. As a Chinese language professor, she felt extremely regret about it, because she knew deeply that Chinese people are very similar to the people of Republika Srpska in many ways from communication principles to holiday celebration ways. Luckily, the establishment of The Confucius Institute at the University of Banja Luka will play the role of a bridge to help people in the two countries to understand each other better.

After the lecture, guests enjoyed the tea break and had an opportunity to talk more with Ms Soldat and each other. And Ms Soldat answered the questions raised by the guests.

At the Chinese traditional material exhibition corner, the guests reviewed the Chinese books and other Chinese object exposed in the ’ little Chinese corner’, and took the broshures with information about the CI and China.
