Preliminary Round of 17th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students Held in Mongolia

On March 25th, the regional preliminary round for the 17th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Mongolian College Students, sponsored by the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban), organized by the Confucius Institute at National University of Mongolia and Mongolia-China Chinese Language Teachers Association and co-organized by China-Mongolia Cultural and Educational Foundation and China Cultural Center in Ulan Bator was held at the Ulan Bator Opera House. Twenty-two contestants from nine universities including National University of Mongolia, the University of the Humanities, Mongolian State University of Education, Mongolian University of Science and Technology, Ulan Bator State University, Mongolian Oriental University, Ikh Zasag International University, Otgontenger University and Loari International University participated in the contest.

After rounds of fierce competition, including self-designed speeches, Q&A and talent shows, Marle Mar, a senior from the Chinese Department of National University of Mongolia won the first place, Gueug, a sophomore from the Chinese Department of University of the Humanities took the second place by only 0.8 point marginal difference, and Ochirmaa, a senior from the Chinese Department of Ikh Zasag International University won the third place. Fifteen contestants went to the final.

Chinese and Mongolian guests included Hasi Bagen, Deputy Director of the China Cultural Center in Ulan Bator, Zhu Junli, Director of the Confucius Institute at National University of Mongolia, Tsogzolmaa, Dean of the School of Educational Studies of Mongolian State University of Education, Feng Dehong, Manager of Ulan Bator Representative Office of Bank of China, Yu Jiahuan, the Volunteer Chinese teacher advisor in Mongolia and Choigii, Dean of Asia Studies of Mongolian University of Science and Technology.
