Dance Drama “The Moon Rising on the Helan Mountain” Lights up Chinese New Year Celebrations in Luxembourg

On February 25th, local time, both oversea Chinese and locals made up an audience of over 700 in gathering for unforgettable Chinese New Year performances, songs, and spellbinding show of “The Moon Rising on the Helan Mountain”, a large-scale Chinese original folk dance drama in Mondorf-les-Bains, Luxembourg.

The evening party was co-organized by the Confucius Institute at Trier University, the Chinese Language and Cultural Center in Luxemburg, Sinolux Schengen Culture Communications A.S.B.L., China-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and the Government of Mondorf-les-Bains. The guests attending the celebration included Mosar, Member of Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies, Lex Delles, Mayor of Mondorf-les-Bains, and Max Fischbach, Representative of Luxembourg Ministry of Economy on Chinese Affairs.

Before the beginning of the performance, Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg sent a congratulatory letter and Prime Minister Xavier Bettel of Luxembourg also sent a congratulatory video message.

“The Moon Rising on the Helan Mountain” was produced by Chinese Yinchuan Arts Theatre Co. Ltd. Set in the renowned Silk Road and with international themes, it mainly demonstrates the integration of different cultures. As a wonderful stage play, this touching love story adapted from the thousand-year Ningxia folklore features the solitary splendor of western China and trade adventures, and eulogizes the people’s perseverance in the form of art.

The event was the second of its kind since “Chinese Culture Day” was held on January 27th by the Confucius Institute and the Chinese Language and Cultural Center in Luxembourg in celebration of the Chinese New Year.
