February 16th and 17th were the liveliest days of the Spring Festival with Thailand’s “Happy Chinese New Year” cultural activities being held at Yaowarat Road——the Chinatown of Bangkok. The Maritime Silk Road Confucius Institute in Thailand attended the event upon invitation to provide locals with Chinese traditional culture experience projects.

Chinatown was decorated with lanterns and festoons, being bustling with the atmosphere of the occasion in the area’s every corner. On the afternoon of the first day of the Chinese Lunar New Year, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand was present at Chinatown and watched the culture booth of the Maritime Silk Road Confucius Institute.

Cultural experience activities featuring calligraphy, paper-cuts, face painting, traditional costumes and so on all are welcomed by the guests, who found great pleasure at each distinctive cultural booth with festive mood at the crowded street.

Co-established by Tianjin Normal University of China and Dhurakij Pundit University of Thailand, the Maritime Silk Road Confucius Institute adheres to its own characteristics in the construction of the “Belt and Road”. On the occasion of the joyous Spring Festival, the Institute narrated Chinese culture to tourists from different countries in Bangkok’s Chinatown, strengthening people-to-people bonds.
