Chinese Trained Teachers to Be Sent to Confucius Institutes in 15 Countries

The training class for Chinese volunteers was launched in Dalian University of Foreign Languages on December 28th. This class was sponsored by the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and volunteers attending the training class will be sent to 51 Confucius Institutes in 15 countries in 2018, such as Korea, Peru and Chile. 178 trainees from 75 colleges and universities such as Communication University of China, Beijing Language and Culture University and Nanjing University will receive professional training on the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language, Chinese culture and other subjects.

The Confucius Institute serves as a window and bridge for language and cultural exchanges between China and other countries, making great contributions to enhancing the friendship and mutual learning between China and the world. So far, altogether 525 Confucius Institutes and 1,113 Confucius Classrooms have been established in 146 countries across the globe, with the total number of students of all kinds reaching 9.16 million.

It is reported that this training will last for six weeks, after which, all the volunteers will be sent to countries such as the Republic of Korea, Peru, Chile, Brazil, Japan, Tajikistan, Mexico, Colombia and Russia.

Teachers of this training class are professors, off-campus scholars and experts from related schools of Dalian University of Foreign Languages. Through case studies, practice teaching, task fulfilling and other training methods, trainees will gain systematic knowledge about the building of the Confucius Institute and professional ethics, the promotion of Chinese culture and cross-cultural communication, the key projects of Hanban, tips of working and living aboard, overseas management and traditional Chinese talent skills.

Liu Hong, President of Dalian University of Foreign Languages said that the promotion of Chinese language to the world has entered a new era. More and more countries and universities hope that the Confucius Institute will become the promoter of technical exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and foreign enterprises and the platform for training local think-tank experts for the “Belt and Road” initiative. He hoped that all the trainees will truly become envoys and bridges for the dissemination of Chinese culture.
