Confucius Institute in Krakow Holds First “Belt and Road” China-Poland Youth Dialogue

On November 16th, local time, the First “Belt and Road” China-Poland Youth Dialogue organized by the Confucius Institute in Krakow kicked off in Krakow, a famous historical city in southern Poland. More than 100 young students from universities in both China and Poland participated in the activity.

During the activity, Chinese and Polish students shared their experiences in culture and people-to-people exchanges of the two countries from different perspectives. Students from Hong Kong, China then introduced the clothing, food, shelter and transportation in Hong Kong, which showed the vitality of cities in contemporary China. They also performed a traditional Cantonese opera piece Boating on the Five Lake and interacted with the Polish students by teaching them to write Chinese characters on fans with brush.

Sandra, a student from Jagiellonian University, shared her interesting stories of working and learning in China. She said that she had learned a lot about Chinese culture from her roommates when she was in China and hoped to go to China again in the future whenever she stands a chance.

Zhu Yilu, an overseas student in Poland from Beijing Foreign Studies University, shared her experience of studying and living in Poland. She said that the “Belt and Road” initiative would provide them with more opportunities in the future.

Han Xinzhong, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute in Krakow said in his speech that the exchanges and cooperation between China and Poland continue to be strengthened based on “the Belt and Road” initiative, which is beneficial to all parties and that the youths from both countries should actively engage in this historical trend.

Professor Ewa Trojnar from Jagiellonian University pointed out that thanks to the “Belt and Road” initiative, Jagiellonian University has conducted cooperation with many Chinese universities and plans to establish subjects and majors related to the “Belt and Road” initiative to cultivate more talents and further the cooperation between the two countries.

The China-Poland Youth Dialogue is aimed to further the communication between the youths from the two countries and serve as a bridge for cultural exchanges and connections of their hearts.
