The Confucius Institute at the University of Valencia granted an award by the Government of the Community of Valencia

On October, 9th, 2017 , local time, the Confucius Institute at the University of Valencia (CIUV) was granted the yearly merit of culture for 2017 by the Government of the Community of Valencia, Spain.

On the occasion of the awards ceremony "los premios 9 d'Octubre", Vicente Andreu, Director and representative of CIUV, was presented a medal by Ximo Puig, President of the Community of Valencia. The awards are meant for those organizations or people who have done outstanding contributions in such areas as culture, technology, diplomatic, business, social equity, sports, etc. The award ceremony is held on October 9 every year. A total of 16 individuals and 8 groups won the awards in 2017. This is the second local award that CIUV has got this year, the first one being the monthly cover-page-article award granted by El Levante-EMV, a business newspaper in the community of Valencia. Vicente Andreu made an award-winning speech published on Levante.

CIUV was established in the spring of 2007 and was open to local students and the community in September of the same year. Over the ten years, nearly 5,000 students have achieved excellent academic performances in CIUV. Since 2010, CIUV has been publishing Chinese-Spanish bilingual magazine, Confucius Institute, the only Chinese-Spanish bilingual magazine in Iberian America and a bridge for cultural exchanges between China and Iberian American countries. Because of her excellent performances in promoting Chinese culture and the high standards and strict requirements towards herself, CIUV chosen as one of the 15 model Confucius Institutes from among over 500 throughout the world.

In her 10th year of running, CIUV has repeatedly received local awards. This shows that CIUV has been widely recognized for her painstaking efforts and is playing an increasingly-important role in the cultural exchanges between China and other countries.
