Moon-cake Fragrance Fills in Valencia

On October 4th, 2017, Chinese lunar month August 15th, the Confucius Institute at the University of Valencia(CIUV) held the activity of "Celebrating a reunion at Mid-Autumn Festival by tasting Chinese mooncakes" at El Corte Inglés Shopping Mall located in the business center of Valencia. Over a thousand people were present at the site.

At 5:30 p.m., the staff at the booth displayed strawberries, green beans, lotus egg yolk and other tastes of moon cakes and tea on counters for shoppers and tourists to come to taste. Around the counters CIUV put her Chinese and Spanish version of the Confucius Institute magazine and publicity pamphlets on display for people to learn about Chinese culture and Confucius Institutes.

At about 6:30, the activity started. In very short time, customers and shoppers of different ages different colors were attracted to the counters. Teachers from CIUV, dressed up in traditional Chinese clothing, introduced the Mid-Autumn Festival traditions and customs to the listeners and invited them to taste the festival food — moon-cakes. The celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival also attracted people from the local community. Many people said that this was their first time to taste moon-cakes and they thought the moon-cakes were really delicious.

Mid-Autumn Festival is on lunar month August 15th on Chinese calendar. On this day people eat round moon-cakes which symbolizes the family reunion and happiness.
