From 12th to 26th, July, 2017, an exhibition of traditional Chinese musical instruments was held in the hall of the Conservatorio de Musica de Coimbra. This event was co-held by the Instituto Confucio da Universidade de Coimbra, Centro Cientifico e Cultural de Macau and Conservatorio de Musica de Coimbra.

According to incomplete statistics, China now has more than 600 varieties of national musical instruments with unique characters. They can be generally divided into four categories: bowed, plucked strings, wind and percussion in accordance with the sound and playing methods. In the exhibition, some of the representative ones were displayed, such as erhu, guzheng, guqin, piba, dizi, xun, bianzhong, yunluo, gu and so on. In the closing ceremony, a presentation on Musica e Instrumentos Musicais Chineses em Portugal was delivered by Dr. Enio de Souza, from Centro Cientifico e Cultural de Macau, Lisboa.
