Talking Cooperation along the Danube and Chinese Tea Art Acclaimed
—A Well-prepared Gift from Confucius Institute at University of Novi Sad to 5th “16+1” Education Policy Dialogue

From September 21st to 22nd, local time, the 5th “16+1” China-CEEC (Central and Eastern European Countries) Education Policy Dialogue and the Fourth Meeting of China-CEEC Higher Education Institutes Consortium were held in the University of Novi Sad. The Confucius Institute at the University of Novi Sad, Serbia was invited to present a tea art show Love for Tea along the Danube at the meeting. Du Zhanyuan, Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Education of China and Li Manchang, Chinese Ambassador to Serbia attended the opening ceremony. More than 200 guests from the education circle of 17 countries enjoyed the performance.

With the soft and elegant guqin play Yun Shui Chan xin, Wang Xiaoling, a volunteer teacher and Srdjana Petrovic, a student from the Confucius Institute at the University of Novi Sad warmed the cups, put tea into cups, poured boiling water, smelt the aroma and served the tea in a graceful and skillful manner, showing respect and gentleness and delivering the humbleness and inclusiveness embodied in Chinese tea culture through their confidence and calmness.

Amid the faint aroma of the tea, Igor Mirovic, President of the Government of Vojvodina, Serbia and Milos Vucevic, Mayor of Novi Sad enjoyed the performance and gave approving nods.

During the meeting, Du Zhanyuan and Li Manchang talked with Chen Hui, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Novi Sad, and spoke highly of the efforts and hard work of the Confucius Institute for the Education Policy Dialogue, encouraging the Confucius Institute to continue to tell Chinese stories, disseminate Chinese culture, actively answer the call of the Belt and Road Initiative and promote education and culture communication. Chen Hui was interviewed by Guangming Daily and Radio Television of Vojvodina.
