Confucius Institute at University of Panama Holds Unveiling Ceremony

On September 17th, 2017, in the presence of Panamanian President Juan Carlos Varela and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, the unveiling ceremony of the Confucius Institute at University of Panama co-established by the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and the University of Panama was held at the Chinese Embassy in Panama. Eduardo Flores, Rector of the University of Panama and Gu Xiaoyuan, Party Secretary of Beijing International Studies University (BISU) jointly unveiled the plaque for the institute.

The Confucius Institute Headquarters sent a congratulatory letter, extending warm congratulations on the opening of the institute. It is hoped that the establishment of the Confucius Institute could inject strong impetus to people-to-people and cultural exchanges and friendly relations between China and Panama. It is also expected that with the University of Panama and BISU joining hands together, the Confucius Institute at the University of Panama will serve as a bridge for educational and cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, making positive contributions to enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.
