On the morning of July 27th, the opening ceremony of the “Chinese Bridge” Summer Camp for ASEAN Youth was held in Guizhou Minzu University. More than 300 teachers and students from 15 Confucius Institutes in nine ASEAN countries will have a one-week Chinese language and culture experience activity in Guizhou Province.

Taking cultural exchange activities as its platforms, the summer camp aims at strengthening exchanges, mutual learning and friendship between the youth of China and the ASEAN countries, and further promoting the opening-up of Guizhou and the spread of Chinese culture. Youth from nine countries including Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, the Philippines, Myanmar and Viet Nam will deepen their understanding of Chinese language and culture through their firsthand experience.

After the welcome ceremony, campers from delegations of the various countries teamed up and talked with each other without restraint to know each other, breaking the ice when they first met. Guided by the leading teacher, they visited the library, college of fine arts and ethnic cultures showroom of Guizhou Minzu University to understand the diverse Chinese culture.

On the afternoon, the campers were divided into two groups to visit the Confucius Academy and experience Chinese ethnic and folk culture such as Tai Chi, calligraphy and paper cutting.

It is reported that in the following activities of the summer camp, the campers will attend the opening ceremony of the China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week and hiking activity, visit the Guizhou Provincial Museum and the Huangguoshu Waterfall, and experience the rich and wonderful Chinese ethnic and folk culture such as square dance and martial arts.
