Students’ native-like pronunciation and true-to-life acting won ovation from the audience. As the debut at its full length, the drama attracted masses of Chinese drama “fans”.

The drama Butterfly Lovers was an adaptation of a traditional Chinese opera of the same name. After a profound study of the inner world of the characters in the drama, actors from The Sunshine Drama Club of the School of Sinology of Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg skillfully displayed the leading characters’ love and hatred as well as their good expectations for the society in the form of time-travel drama. Classic traditional story combining with elaborate costumes, the drama gave the audience a feel for the glamorous traditional Chinese culture.
