"Chinese Style" Blows at 6th Madagascar International Tourism Fair

On June 8th local time, the 6th Madagascar International Tourism Fair opened in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar. The fair brought together more than 100 travel agencies from Madagascar, China, Indonesia and other countries. It is the first time that China is invited to attend the fair as a guest of honor.

Ratsiraka larovana Roland, Minister of Tourism of the State Government of Madagascar, Randriamandranto Joël, Head of the National Tourism Board, Du Jiang, Head of the Chinese Tourism Delegation and Deputy Director of China National Tourism Administration, Yang Xiaorong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Madagascar, the director of the Department of African Affairs of the UN World Tourism Organization, and the relevant national ambassadors to Madagascar and representatives from participating countries attended the opening ceremony.

Du Jiang said in his speech that Chinese Tourism Delegation attended the fair to implement the consensus scored on March 27th this year by Chinese President Xi Jinping and His Excellency President Rajaonarimampianina Hery in Beijing and to further deepen China-Africa comprehensive strategic partnership. As one of the important contents of people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries, tourism will further enrich and expand the connotation of cooperation between the two sides and promote the sustainable development of the "Belt and Road" Initiative in Madagascar.

Yang Xiaorong said in her speech that this year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Madagascar. The China-Madagascar cooperation is increasingly comprehensive, with a bright prospect for the tourism, which will benefit the cooperation and exchanges between the two peoples.

Teachers from the Confucius Institute of University of Antananarivo gave the tea art performance and played Guzheng, so as to add more charm to China Pavilion. The melodious sound of Guzheng and the fragrance of black tea attracted a large number of visitors. Ratsiraka larovana Roland and his party also tasted the Chinese black tea after Du Jiang’s introduction.

On the “Beijing Avenue” outside the exhibition hall, the guests appreciated the song and dance named The Coolest Ethnic Trend performed by the students from the Confucius Institute. The performances of the graceful Tai Chi and the vigorous martial arts won rounds of applause from the audience.

At the party of "Beautiful Night of China", students from the Confucius Institute at the University of Antananarivo performed the dance Moonlight over the Lotus Pond, the song Land of Dreams, the Peking Opera The Lovely Evening and creative martial arts, once again showing the Chinese and foreign guests the charm of Chinese talents showed by the students from the Confucius Institute. After the performance, Du Jiang met in person with the Peking Opera performers Liu Kai and Xu Li, giving credit to their performance and encouraging them to carry forward the Peking opera.

On June 9th, Rajaonarimampianina Hery, President of the Republic of Madagascar, Mahafaly Solonandrasana Olivier, Prime Minister of the Republic of Madagascar, and other heads of the government visited China Pavilion. After enjoying the performances of tea art, Tai Chi, and martial arts by the teachers and students from the Confucius Institute, President Rajaonarimampianina Hery communicated with them in a cordial atmosphere and took group photos together.

During the exhibition from the June 8th to 10th, every show of the faculty and students from the Confucius Institute at the University of Antananarivo attracted plenty of Chinese and Malaysian spectators. As the most beautiful scenery of the exhibition, their performances won praise from Chinese and foreign guests, and feasted the eyes of the audience on a strong Chinese style. As Ratsiraka larovana Roland said at the evening party of "Beautiful China Night", after watching the performance of students at the Confucius Institute, it seems that Madagascar, one of the "Francophone" countries, would join the "Sinophone" family in the near future.
