Confucius Institute of Artois Organizes Conference of “Qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine”

Invited by the Confucius Institute of Artois, Mr. Liu Bingkai, Secretary-general of the French-Chinese Medicine Cooperation Committee gave a speech on Qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine at 5 p.m. on 1st June in Amphitheatre Jean-Monnet.

The lecture was mainly focused on “Qigong”, a system of coordinated body posture and movement with roots in Chinese medicine, philosophy and martial arts. Mr Liu Bingkai first introduced what is Qigong, and then presented the long history of its practice including recent scientific research. He further explained the major components of Qigong and the relation between Qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine, with the introduction of three different types of Qigong based on Taoist, Buddhist and Confucian philosophy. The three main functions “Tiaoshen”, “Tiaoxi” and “Tiaoxin” of Qigong aim at harmonize “Qi” with universe and mankind. Mr. Liubingkai also brought the variation of “Qi”, i.e. “Yuanqi”, “Zongqi”, “Zhenqi” and “Yingqi” with presentation of several Qigong masters in China.

After the lecture, Mr. Liu Bingkai demonstrated a practice of Qi gong “Yunzhijiannaogong”, and guided the audience to exercise as well. The interactive atmosphere is relaxed and warm-hearted. The lecture was warmly welcomed, which gave a clearer understanding of Qigong to the audience.
