Confucius Institute at Kazan Federal University Holds 2017 Joint Conference of Directors of Russian Confucius Institutes (Classrooms)

On May 27th local time, the 2017 Joint Conference of Directors of Russian Confucius Institutes (Classes) was held at Kazan Federal University.

Razil Valeev, Member of Presidium of State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan, Ilshat Gafurov, Rector of Kazan Federal University, Zhao Guocheng, Minister Counselor of the Education Office of the Chinese Embassy in Russia, Wu Yingqin, Chinese Consulate-General in Kazan, officials of Hanban and over 40 directors of the Confucius Institutes (Classrooms) in Russia attended the conference upon invitation.

Razil Valeev noted in his speech that recent years were seeing more and more cooperation between China and the Republic of Tatarstan while the "Belt and Road" initiative were having great influence on the development of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Zhao Guocheng pointed out in his speech that in recent years China and Russia had embraced close cooperation and frequent exchanges. As the number of people in Russia studying Chinese grows, the Confucius Institute has played a crucial role in exchanges between Chinese and Russian colleges and universities. This conference aimed at solving the existing problems in Chinese language teaching.

Wu Yingqin noted in his speech that the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Russia enjoyed a good development momentum. Faced with more opportunities and challenges in the future, the Confucius Institute will play an important role in China-Russia exchanges, especially under the "Belt and Road" framework.

This conference conducted discussions on the following four topics: the Confucius Institutes and the "Belt and Road" initiative; the survival and development of the Confucius Institutes in Russia; the implementation and development of the Confucius China Studies Program in Russia; the sharing of classical and special cases and so on. Directors participating in this meeting actively made statements and they conducted heated discussions about each topic.
