Chinese and Russian Universities Celebrate the Tenth Anniversary of the Founding of the Confucius Institute at Blagoveschensk State Pedagogical University

On May 15th local time, the Confucius Institute at Blagoveschensk State Pedagogical University held the opening ceremony of its tenth anniversary in the Blagoveshchensk Concert Hall in Amur Oblast. Aulia Lysenko, Deputy Governor of Amur Oblast, Svetlana Vovna, Deputy Mayor of Blagoveshchensk, Villa Shotina, the university’s headmaster, Guo Zhijun, Chinese Consul-General in Khabarovsk, and Cao Baiying, Party Secretary of Heihe University as well as teacher representatives of the Confucius Institute attended the ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, Cao Baiying read out a congratulatory letter on behalf of Ma Jianfei, Deputy Chief Executive of the Confucius Institute Headquarters and Deputy Director-General of Hanban. In the letter, Ma acknowledged the achievements of the institute and pointed out how it has formed a series of excellent courses pertaining to tourism, business and Chinese language teaching in the form of multimedia and regular cultural exchanges, thus playing an important role in promoting the mutual learning and understanding between the two countries.

Vitalevna also read out a congratulatory letter on behalf of the office of the Minister of Education of Amur Oblast, in which he congratulated the institute on its tenth anniversary and decade-long achievements.

At the event, students of the Confucius Institute and Chinese and Russian universities students delivered fantastic performances. Senior students of the institute sang the Chinese melody Sunset Glow; the Ah-bu Acrobatic Troupe performed Jackson’s Rope. Their Chinese counterpart sang the song Love Each Other, all of which embodied their hopes for a strong friendship between Chinese and Russians. Chinese and Russian teachers and students who have made great contributions to strengthening educational and cultural exchanges were also commended for their spirit. A photography exhibition themed Confucius thoughts was also held at the event.

The event also saw Cao Baiying and Vitalevna inaugurate the entertainment and culture pavilion named after Confucius. They also planted trees to symbolize the bonds between the two peoples. The newly-opened pavilion will add as another platform for presenting Chinese cultural aspects and essence.

Larisa Jaklova, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education and Science of Amur Oblast, Sergei Mikhailovich, Minister of Foreign Economy, Tourism and Enterprise of Amur Oblast, Oliga Ulkova, Minister of Culture and Archives of Amur Oblast, Ren Luofei, Diretor of Foreign Affairs in Heihe, Heilongjiang Province, Jiang Yinan and Qu Jianweim, former party secretaries of Heihe University and Ma Zilong, the Former Headmaster of Heihe University, as well as more than a thousand students from Blagoveshchensk State Pedagogical University, Harbin Normal University, Harbin Engineering University, Qiqihar Medical University, Suihua University and Heihe University and members of the Jazz Dance Studio, the Water color Singing Group and Ross Art Troupe attended the anniversary.
