Confucius Institute at Middle East Technical University Attends “Belt and Road” China-Turkey Cooperation Forum—Second China Research Conference

On Apr. 27th, in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, the “Belt and Road” China-Turkey Cooperation Forum—the second China Research Conference was co-hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Turkey, the China International Culture Association, the Ankara Policy Center and Turkish Culture Foundation. The Confucius Institute at Middle East Technical University attended the forum and made a keynote speech upon invitation.

Tuğrul Türkeş, Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey, Yu Hongyang, Chinese Ambassador to Turkey, and Wang Chen, Deputy Secretary-General of China International Culture Association attended the conference and delivered the opening speeches. More than 150 experts, scholars and guests from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the Ministry of National Education of Turkey, famous universities, cultural institutions, Turkey-China friendship foundation and other organizations attended the forum.

Proceedings of the 80th Anniversary of Sinology in Turkey—First China Research Conference being released

At the meeting, scholars from the Confucius Institute at Middle East Technical University reported on the research fruits and contributed proposals to the Belt and Road Initiative. Prof. Ceren Ergenc, Deputy Director of Department of International Relations, Prof. Sirin Saracoglu, Deputy Director of Department of Economics and Dr. Kubilay Atik of History Department of Middle East Technical University respectively delivered speeches themed A Study on the Transformation of Regional Economic Model in Western China from the Perspective of Capitalist Diversity, The Development of Turkey-China Trade Relations and the Influence of Turkish Manufacturing and Chinese Historical Data about Turks from the Downfall of Turkic Khaganate and Uyghur Khaganate to Genghis Khan’s Reign. These research results won enthusiastic response and affirmative evaluation from participating experts and scholars.

China Research Conference in Turkey is the first bilateral symposium on Sinology studies in the world, which conducts a comprehensive study on China from its politics, economy, religion, history and other fields. The conference consists of four parts: “Turkey-China Interaction on the Shared Cultural Heritage and the Perspective of Culture”, “Research on the Origin and the Influence of Chinese Classics in the Study of the History of Turkey, “Opportunities and Challenges of Turkey-China Cultural Cooperation under the Framework of the ‘Belt and Road’” and “Political, Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Turkey in the new situation”.

Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), Anadolu Agency and China Central Television (CCTV), China Radio International (CRI), Guangming Daily and other mainstream media covered the conference.
