On May 16th, representatives of 33 Confucius Institutes and Confucius Classrooms from 14 European countries attended the 2017 Joint Conference of European Confucius Institutes/Classrooms in Denmark's capital Copenhagen to discuss the future development of the Confucius Institutes in this region.

Liu Biwei said in his speech that, language is a tool for people to communicate with each other. With China's rapid growth, Confucius Institute has created a school-running model featuring equality, cooperation, mutual benefits and win-win results. It answers the call of Chinese language fever worldwide and acts as a bridge to connect Chinese language and civilization with those of foreign countries and promote mutual understanding and friendship.

Bertel Haarder said that Confucius Institute is an excellent platform for exchange of ideas, experience and knowledge. A better understanding of each other's culture and an open attitude will prosper China and Europe.

This conference was jointly organized by the Confucius Institute at Royal Danish Academy of Music and the Copenhagen Business Confucius Institute. Bertel Krarup expressed that the cooperation between RDAM and China Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM) enables Denmark to learn more about Chinese music and musicians. On the other hand, the Confucius Institute has played an indispensable part in developing RDAM's audience and performing China's traditional and modern music.

Chinese and foreign directors of the institutes present delivered speeches and discussed on topics including further improving teaching quality and teachers’ training, promoting the institutes’ work via cooperation and resource sharing, and how to run them with local features.
