Confucius Institute at University of Bahrain Holds “Belt and Road” Academic Seminar

On May 13th, the first Academic Seminar held by Confucius Institute at University of Bahrain” convened at University of Bahrain. More than 100 scholars and experts from 7 countries attended the seminar with the theme of the “Belt and Road” new energy cooperation and cross-cultural communication.

The topics of the academic seminar included the energy program of Gulf countries, new energy policy, talent cultivation of the new energy, as well as new energy application and the cross-cultural communication and cooperation.

Gong Siyi, Vice President of Shanghai University expressed in a speech that energy cooperation is an important part in the “Belt and Road” initiative. In the coming thirty years, the demands in energy in developing countries will be increasing.She hoped that the seminar held by the Confucius Institute at University of Bahrain could make contributions to the development of new energy industries in the region.

Prof. Riyad Y Hamzah, President of University of Bahrain expressed that the “Belt and Road” initiative benefits the whole world and that Bahrain would like to become a member of the international “Circle of Friends” to contribute to the prosperity of global economy .

Waheeb, Foreign Director of the Confucius Institute, Wu Xueying, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Bahrain, Yao Ximing, Dean of College of International Exchange at Shanghai University, Wang Yi, Deputy-Dean of Faculty of International Studies at Prince of Songkla University of Thailand and other Chinese and foreign scholars discussed the cross-cultural communication and cooperation under the framework of the "Belt and Road" initiative.

Qi Zhenhong, Chinese Ambassador to Bahrain, attended the opening ceremony.
