On Apr. 28th local time, Jiang Kun, an artist of Chinese crosstalk (a comic dialogue of Chinese performing arts) and President of Chinese Ballad Singers Association, visited the Confucius Institute at Goethe University Frankfurt.

The hall on the first floor of the institute was brilliantly illuminated that night, and Chinese folk art lovers from China and Germany gathered together for Jiang’s appearance. “Here comes Jang Kun!” Immediately, there was warm applause and cheering in the hall.

On behalf of the Confucius Institute, Wang Jingling, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at Goethe University Frankfurt, extended warm welcome to Jiang Kun and his team, and gave them a detailed introduction on the ongoing teaching agenda for Chinese language and various cultural activities at the Confucius Institute. Upon learning the event marked the 10th anniversary of the institute’s establishment, Jiang gladly left an inscription which reads: “Advocating morality and gathering the sages; wise men are free from anxieties; writings are for conveying truth; well doing are around the world” and also presented his calligraphy writing: “Slow and Steady Wins the Race” as a gift from the institute to Goethe University Frankfurt.

Jiang Kun praised the group crosstalk “Five Officials’ Credit Claiming” by the student drama troupe. He said it was the most special version of “Five Officials’ Credit Claiming” he had ever seen. Besides, Jiang Kun wrote a title for the student drama troupe, which reads “Furt Troupe”.

Many German friends said it was the first time they had watched the Chinese crosstalk. They said it was simple in form but profound in meaning, and it was very interesting.
