Preliminary Round of 16th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students Successfully Held in Czech Republic and Slovakia

On Apr. 7th local time, the Preliminary Round of the 16th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students was successfully held in the Czech Republic and Slovakia Division. This preliminary round was sponsored by Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and co-organized by the Chinese Embassy of in the Czech Republic and the Confucius Institute at Palacky University. Ma Keqing, Chinese Ambassador to the Czech Republic attended and addressed the event.

The theme of the event is “Dreams Enlighten the Future”, and a total of seven contestants from four universities in the Czech Republic and Slovakia participated in the competition. Six people, including Huang Xiaoming, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at Palacky University, Li Qingfeng, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute in Bratislava, He Yi, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at Comenius University, and Wu Dawei, Czech sinologist composed the jury and gave professional assessments.

The competition consisted of several parts, including free speech, Chinese culture Q&A and talent show. All contestants expressed their love and understanding for Chinese language and culture through excellent performances of speeches, poetry recitation, Chinese songs, calligraphy, Wushu and etc.

After fierce competition, Gan Lu (Drdáková Daniela), from the Comenius University won the first prize, and she will go to China this July for the final, representing the Czech Republic and Slovakia Division.
