Portuguese President Praises Cultural Exhibition Activities by Confucius Institute at University of Lisbon

On Mar. 29th local time, the largest university fair-Futurália in Portugal opened at the International Exhibition Center of Lisbon. The Confucius Institute at the University of Lisbon held a variety of cultural activities during the exhibition, which gained praise from Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.


Local people experiencing Taijiquan

Teachers and other staff members of the Confucius Institute carefully organized several cultural activities including Taijiquan, Chinese calligraphy, the art of Chinese tea, and Chinese knot and paper cutting, offering plenty of opportunities for the local people to experience the Chinese culture and have interactions and arousing their keen interest to Chinese culture.

President Rebelo de Sousa visited the Confucius Institute booth that afternoon and warmly talked with Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute Wang Jincheng. He said excitedly “Chinese friends! Chinese!” and fully appreciated the cultural exhibition activities held by the Confucius Institute. He hoped that the institute will play an active role in the cultural exchanges between China and Portugal.
