Chinese and UK Directors’ Forum of UK Confucius Institutes Held at Chinese Consulate General in Manchester
On Mar. 8th, 2017, the Chinese and UK directors’ forum, sponsored by Education Section of the Chinese Embassy in the UK, and organized by Education Section of the Chinese Consulate General in Manchester, was convened at the residence of the Chinese Consulate General in Manchester. Nearly 40 people including Sun Dali, Consul-General of Chinese Consulate General in Manchester, Wang Yongli, Minister-Counselor for Education at the Chinese Embassy in the UK, as well as Chinese and UK directors of some UK Confucius Institutes attended the forum.
Wang Yongli, Minister-Counselor for Education at the Chinese Embassy in the UK firstly expressed his affirmation for the overall development of the UK Confucius Institutes, and made deployment for the development of the Confucius Institutes in the next decade. He hoped all Confucius Institutes could find their own positions and carry out high-level activities, so as to elevate status of the Confucius Institutes in schools and regions.
Sun Dali, Consul-General of Chinese Consulate General in Manchester said in his speech that 2017 marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between both countries, and it is also the year with in-depth development of the "Golden Era" of bilateral relations. He hoped the Confucius Institutes could remember their initial determination, keep moving, and show our own luster within innovation in future development.
Representatives present at the forum spoke enthusiastically, exchanging experience on the development features and difficulties of respective institutes. Everyone said in succession that under the leadership of Hanban and the Chinese embassies and consulates, they have faith in promoting the construction of the Confucius Institutes to a new height.
After the forum, Consul-General Sun Dali and Minister-Counselor Wang Yongli jointly issued certificates of honor to the excellent Confucius Institutes in consular district of Manchester.
