“Dream Paradise” Performance Tours Belgium

A show named Dream Paradise, a part of the “Happy Chinese New Year” art performance tour, was staged on the afternoon of Jan. 21st at the auditorium of the Confucius Institute at University of Leuven in Leuven, Belgium. Performers from the Student Art Troupe of Zhejiang Gongshang University as well as local singers and martial art lovers in Belgium presented a splendid cultural feast for over 300 spectators.

At the very start, the zealous Urghur dance Lift Your Veil brought the performance to a high point. The audience enjoyed full brilliance and excitement in Dai pas de trios Shaoduoli, Peking opera dance Qiaohuadan and martial art show Chinese Kong Fu. Other performance made the spectators intoxicated, such as Nichang played in Sizhu, a stringed bamboo instrument of southern China, Erhu solo Galloping Steeds, Tea-Picking Dance with local features of Zhejiang Province as well as the finale Dream Paradise. The audience feasted their ears and eyes on the Chinese song Moon Above My Hometown sang by a Belgian retiree from a chorus club who has taught himself Chinese for years and named himself Lao Ding (Mr. Ding), as well as Wing Chun and Chen-style Tai Chi presented by the Golden Phoenix Club in Belgium. Every wonderful show won prolonged applause from the audience.
Sent by Hanban and the Confucius Institute Headquarters, a team of 20 people from the Student Art Troupe of Zhejiang Gongshang University went on a Dream Paradise art performance tour in Belgium and the Netherlands from Jan. 16th to 25th. With diverse art forms, the performance aims at showcasing and spreading the traditional Chinese culture and local culture of Zhejiang Province. The performance is enlisted in the “Happy Chinese New Year” overseas performance series of the Chinese Ministry of Culture. The art troupe is expected to visit Confucius Institute at University College West Flanders, Confucius Institute at University of Leuven as well as Confucius Institute at Leiden University in the Netherlands.
