Confucius Institute at University of Sierra Leone Praised at Reception for New Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone

On Nov. 23rd, local time, the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone held a reception for newly-appointed Ambassador Wu Peng. He Mingqing, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at University of Sierra Leone and teachers of the Confucius Institute attended at invitation.

Wu said that he is honored to be the 15th Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the independence of Sierra Leone and the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Sierra Leone. He fully affirmed the efforts and achievements of the Confucius Institute in teaching Chinese and the transmission of the Chinese culture. He said that the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone will continue to support the work of the Confucius Institute and expand the influence of the Confucius Institute to make it a name card for the promotion of the Chinese language and bilateral cultural exchanges. In this way, people can know China via the Confucius Institute; bilateral relations can be advanced and the friendship between the two peoples can last forever.

On behalf of the Sierra Leonean Government, Foreign Minister Samura Kamara of Sierra Leone welcomed Ambassador Wu Peng, expressed his full support to the work of the Chinese Embassy, sent good wishes to Ambassador Wu Peng as well as wished bilateral friendship last forever.

Over 200 people attended the reception, including Victor Bockarie Foh, Vice President of Sierra Leone, other political heavyweights, diplomatic envoys of various countries and representatives of various circles.
