On the morning of Nov. 22nd, the Photography Exhibition for the Celebration of 65th Anniversary of Pak-China Establishment of Diplomatic Relations kicked off at the Confucius Institute in Islamabad at the National University of Modern Languages, Pakistan. Over 200 people attended the opening ceremony, including You Yi, Cultural Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan; Riaz Ahmed Gondal, Director General of the National University of Modern Languages; Zhang Daojian, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute; as well as teachers and students of the University.

While addressing the event, Counsellor You Yi noted that cultural exchanges between people of the two countries play a crucial role in jointly developing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and seeking wellbeing for their people. Promoting education for students studying in each other’s country and fostering specialized talents for the two countries would facilitate China and Pakistan to create a bright future for the friendship between the two countries. He further mentioned that along with frequent exchanges of top-level visits in culture and education over the recent years, both sides had made remarkable achievements in relevant fields. In the future, within the framework of the “Belt and Road” Initiative, China and Pakistan would continue to conduct in-depth cooperation in a wide range of fields including people-to-people exchange, education and culture, and both sides would sign the “Implementation Plan for China-Pakistan Cultural Exchange”. In addition, the Chinese Culture Center in Pakistan will be open to the public next year and will provide a wide array of services including hosting cultural events, offering teaching and training, serving cultural enterprises of the two countries, sharing cultural information and facilitating China-Pakistan exchanges.

Also speaking at the ceremony, Riaz Ahmed Gondal expressed his appreciation to the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan for its long-term strong support for cultural exchanges between the two countries and praised the achievements by the Confucius Institute in Islamabad. He also hoped that this exhibition would help deepen Pakistani students’ understanding of the Chinese culture and further promote cultural exchanges between the two countries.

It is learned that this photo exhibition is one of the series of events to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan. Photos displayed at this exhibition showcase various aspects of China, such as its local customs and practices, folk traditions, culture and arts, as well as achievements in its modernization. At the event, our reporter witnessed that some photos presented touching moments in cultural exchanges between people of the two countries. Many local students savoured and appreciated these exquisite photos with their full attention, some of whom took photos with these exhibits using their mobile phones.
