Built upon the consensus reached on the 4th Siberia Regional Chinese Language Teacher Workshop in November, 2011, the Regional Chinese Language Teacher Association was officially established on May 29, 2012 at the Confucius Institute at Novosibirsk State University of Technology, as an effort to further consolidate exchange and cooperation among Chinese language teachers within the region and promote Chinese language teaching to a new level. Currently, this association has over 30 members, who are all Chinese language teachers from 15 institutions of higher education such as Novosibirsk State University of Technology, Tomsk State University and Buryat State University.

The establishment of the Regional Chinese Language Teacher Association enables the Confucius Institute to understand the needs of local Chinese language teachers and creates a platform for the delegates to exchange their Chinese language teaching experience. Most importantly, it can pool strengths of various institutions of higher education to jointly compile monographs on Chinese language teaching and organize a series of workshops, which effectively drives forward the development of Chinese language teaching and promotes the influence of the Confucius Institute.
