Chinese Embassy in the Czech Republic holds a sendoff event for “100 Czech students Chinese Bridge Summer Camp”

On June 10th, 2016, the Chinese Embassy in the Czech Republic held a sendoff event for a “100 Czech students Chinese Bridge Summer Camp”. Under leadership of the local Director of the Confucius Institute at Palacky University Ms. Lucie Laníková and Chinese Director Mr. Huang Xiaoming, 100 students from six universities and 12 high schools throughout the Czech Republic traveled to Prague to take part in the event.

Ambassador Ma Keqing warmly welcomed the students and teachers participating in the event. She said that, with the active participation and driving force from Chinese and Czech education departments and schools, the collaboration and exchange among students, scholars and schools of the two countries are thriving vigorously, and abundant results have been achieved in fields such as personnel training and mutual recognition of academic qualifications and degrees. The Chinese Embassy in the Czech Republic continues to promote educational and cultural exchange and cooperation between the two countries, creating a platform for exchange among their youth. Finally, Ambassador Ma gave her best wishes to the students and teachers, hoping that this trip to China would be a voyage of friendship, discovery and exchange.

In addition, among the summer campers, teacher representative Zuzana Stuchlíková and student representative Lada Rybníčková both gave speeches. They expressed their gratitude toward the Chinese government, Chinese Embassy in the Czech Republic, and Confucius Institute at Palacky University, and said that the Chinese Bridge Summer Camp was an excellent opportunity to deepen exchange and collaboration between Chinese and Czech students, and to better experience and explore Chinese language and culture. They said that they would cherish these two weeks in China, where they would participate in the rich and engrossing Chinese language and culture classes, and visit the famous Chinese historic sites.

In June, 2016, while China State Council Vice-Premier Madam Liu Yandong was visiting the Czech Republic, in order to fulfill the wishes of the youth of the two countries to better understand each other, she, on behalf of the Chinese government, cordially invited 100 students to participate in a Chinese Bridge Summer Camp trip to China in 2016, and announced that over the following five years, the Chinese government would provide 200 “China-Czech Special Exchange Scholarships” to support Czech students studying in China.

The “100 Czech students Chinese Bridge Summer Camp”, through the joint efforts of the Czech Ministry of Education, Confucius Institute Headquarters and Confucius Institute at Palacky University, successfully completed the preliminary work for the project, and the 100 Czech university and high school students will be traveling to Beijing and Tianjin in July, 2016 to participate in the summer camp activities.
