Confucius Institute at Novosibirsk State University of Technology hosts the Joint Conference of Confucius Institutes and Classrooms in Russia

On May 29th, local time, the Confucius Institute at Novosibirsk State University of Technology (hereinafter referred to as CINSUT), Russia, held the Joint Conference of Confucius Institutes and Classrooms in Russia, which was attended by 51 guests, including Mr. Sannikov, Head of the Department of International Cultural Exchange of Novosibirsk; Mr. Molin, Vice-Chairman of the Committee on International Cooperation and Foreign Economic Relations of the Novosibirsk City; Mr. Zhao Guocheng, Minister-Counselor of Education of the Chinese Embassy in Russia; and Chinese and Russian directors of 17 Confucius Institutes and 5 Confucius Classrooms across Russia.

This conference was moderated by Mr. Yevgeni Tsui, Consultant of CINSUT. First addressing the event, Mr. Zhao Guocheng thanked CINSUT for providing a platform of communication for discussing responsibilities and missions of Confucius Institutes and Classrooms across Russia and wished this conference great success.

Participants of this conference conducted discussions on a wide range of practical issues, such as future development plans of Confucius Institutes, training of local Chinese language teachers, China-Russia cultural integration, positioning of Confucius Institutes, effects of Chinese language teaching videos in teaching practice, and Chinese language research and teaching. Ms. Wang Chanjuan, Chinese Director of CINSUT, pointed out that in order to expand the influence of Chinese language in Russia, Confucius Institutes and Classrooms should share their resources and achieve win-win development in teaching and research and play their respective advantages in organizing cultural events so as to make each event a spectacular feast for participants.

A number of other participants also shared their opinions and suggestions, including Han Danxing, Director of the Confucius Classroom at Saint-Petersburg State University; Melnikova, Russian Director of the Confucius Institute at Saint-Petersburg State University; Zheng Mingqiu and Tatiana Bukhtiyarova, Chinese Director and Russian Director of Confucius Institute at Lomonosov Moscow State University.

During the conference, the CINSUT also held the Photo Exhibition of Achievements of Confucius Institutes and Classrooms in Russia.

Aiming to further promote the Chinese language and culture, this joint conference informs more people of the current development of Confucius Institutes and Classrooms in Russia and provides more reference and evidence to the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) in formulating plans of Chinese language teaching and cultural promotion in Russia.
