Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress visits the Confucius Institute at Free International University of Moldova
On October 16th, 2015 (local time), Mr. Qiangba Puncog, Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, headed a delegation to visit the Confucius Institute at Free International University of Moldova. Mr. Zhang Yinghong, Chinese Ambassador to Moldova, and other officials accompanied Mr. Qiangba Puncog during his visit.
Accompanied by both the Chinese and local directors of the Confucius Institute, Mr. Qiangba Puncog visited the campus hosting the Institute. He and his delegation came to one of the classrooms of the Confucius Institute, where they observed the classroom teaching of Chinese culture and talked with teachers and students to get to know students’ learning. The students, in return, showcased their own Chinese calligraphy and paper-cuts to the visitors.

Afterwards, Mr. Qiangba Puncog and his delegation arrived at the dome conference hall of the University, where they listened to a brief report by Mr. Wan Minggang, Vice-President of Northwest Normal University, on the work done by the Confucius Institutes, including its development, the establishment and growth of the program of English-Chinese translation, classroom teaching at the Institute, Chinese culture activities, and exchange programs for Chinese and Moldovan students.

Afterwards, Mr. Qiangba Puncog conducted brief exchanges with Andrei Galben, Rector of Free International University. Rector Andrei Galben noted that his University is highly willing to work together with Northwest Normal University to promote the development of culture and education of China and Moldova in the long run. He also affirmed the passion of Chinese language teachers from China in their teaching and hoped that both sides could enhance mutual understanding and make good use of the active role played by the Confucius Institute in educational exchanges, so as to cultivate more outstanding high-level talents with comprehensive competence to work in economic and cultural exchanges between the two countries. Mr. Qiangba Puncog also highly commended the success in international Chinese language education by the Confucius Institute and hoped that both sides could make full use of the development opportunities brought by The Belt One Road Initiative and the sound relations between the two countries to further strengthen their language and cultural communication and exchanges.

Towards the end, Mr. Qiangba Puncog and his delegation enjoyed the art performances offered by teachers and students of the Confucius Institute, whose excellent Chinese proficiency and splendid Chinese talents greatly amazed the visitors and won rounds of applause.
