Speakers at the inauguration ceremony

Minister of the Department of Social Development and International Relations of Soghd Province believed that the opening of this Confucius Institute would promote the cooperation between Soghd Province and China in education and people-to-people exchange. The Confucius Institute will boost local economic development by cultivating personnel with a mastery of both the Chinese language and professional knowledge, he added.

Zhou Jianjun noted that the establishment of the Confucius Institute at the Metallurgy and Mines Institute of Tajikistan marked a great event in China-Tajikistan cultural exchanges. Shan Honghong first made an analysis in her speech of the strengths of both the Metallurgy and Mines Institute of Tajikistan and China University of Petroleum and then laid out a clear plan for the development of the Confucius Institute. She said that the two universities would work hard together to build the Confucius Institute into "a high-level and open education institution with its own characteristics".
